 COMMUNITY AND REGIONAL INITIATIVES (PROJECT BASED)
 

  • Assist in the preparation of training proposals with participating First Nations, Organizations and Employers.
  • Provide direction to First Nation communities and employers in the development of training and employment plans according to their established priorities.
  • Act as resource to participating First Nations and organizations for accessing funding sources.

The following program options will be available and promoted:

  • Workplace Based Training (WPBT)
  • Project - Purchase of Training, allowances/income support
  • Job Creation Partnership (JCP)
  • Targeted Wage Subsidy (TWS)
  • Employment Assistance Services (EAS)
  • Summer Career Placement Program (SCP)

 

DEFINITIONS

  • PURCHASE OF TRAINING:
    This component is for either the client or a group of individuals, where we purchase a training course such as Heavy Equipment Operator, Hairdressing, Cook or Computerized Accounting systems, etc… other than post-secondary courses.
  • TARGETED WAGE SUBSIDY:
    Training and work experience designed for specific client(s) through the provision of training related costs, wage subsidies and other specified costs to employers
  • SELF-EMPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE:
    This component provide a client financial assistance while he or she is currently establishing their business.
  • ALLOWANCE/INCOME SUPPORT:
    This is for a client who is attending a training institution where he or she receives an allowance on a bi-weekly basis.
  • PRE-EMPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE:
    This component is to assistance a client to purchase necessary equipment once he or she has been offered a full time employment that required by the employer.
  • JOB CREATION PARTNERSHIP:
    -This component benefits the First Nations/Employers by utilizing this, this is for a project where you hired individuals who are currently receiving EI Benefits or have been on EI Benefits within 36 months.
    -This component will help unemployed local workers remain active and improve their skills in communities where the opportunities for economic renewal make such an objective viable.
  • MOBILITY/RELOCATION ASSISTANCE:
    Under this component, it provides a client a financial assistance to travel for a job interview or assisted a client to relocate to his or her employment. A proved of letter of job interview or offer must be attached to his or her request.
  • EMPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE SERVICES:
    Financial assistance to assist in the delivery of a program. The financial assistance may cover: wages for staff, mandatory employment related costs, overhead costs. This is a component of the Employability improvement program.
  • SUMMER CAREER PLACEMENT:
    This component focuses on individuals by providing work experience and developmental learning experience to in-school individual during the summer months. The overall purpose is to assist the individuals on preparing for their future entry into the labour market.
  • WORKPLACE BASED TRAINING:
    -To assist employers, including the self-employed, through negotiated contributions to training , to meet their current or future skill needs: and
    -To re-train employees whose skills have been made redundant through technological or market changes, or by legislative or regulatory changes.
