RESOLUTION NO. 1986-2

SUBJECT: MOCREEBEC

WHEREAS the MoCreebec oeoole are indiqenous to James Bay and are recognized as aboriqinal oeoole;

WHEREAS the MoCreebec neople have a soecial status and relationshio to the Łederal r,overnrnent of Canada;

WHERFAS the MoCreebec oeonle are seekinq to be established and recoqnized in the Moosonee/ Moose Factory area of Jarres Bay:

WHEŁS the MoCreebec delegation have made representation to the )'vluskeqoq Cree Council Assembly on March 24, 1986;

WHEREAS the Treaty #9 comoonent and aonlication to MoCreebec needs further clarification:

WHEREAS the land base, Band status and cornnunity as?iration of MoCreebec will require additional resources which will not diminish present resources to Bands in the James Bay area;

WHEREAS MoCreebec members are written into an existinq Treaty known as the Janes Bay and Northern Quebec Agreerrent and are Presently involved in discussions clarifying the relationship and ap?lication of this Treaty to them;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Indian oeonle Łf James Bay, represented throuqh the Muskeqoq Cree Council, hereby recoqnize and accept MoCreebec as a full and eoual participant in the deliberations of the Council;

BE IT FURTHER. RESOLVED THAT MoCreebec assumes the riqhts and orivileqes exercised by Council members, includinq the riqht to vote:

BE IT FURI'HER RESOLVED THAT the acceptance of MoCreebec as Council members is without pre1udice to initiatives undertaken or about to be under­taken by MoCreebec or other Band C'.,overnrnents:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED THAT the Muskeqog Cree Council give the force and effect needed to realize the above.
