RESOLUTION NO. 1987-25

SUBJECT: JBEC/NORTHERN COLLEGE

WHEREAS the Mushkegowuk Council Bands are regaining control over education, and;

WHEREAS the Mushkegowuk people wish to control education at all levels, including pre-school, elementary, secondary, post-secondary and adult education, and;

WHEREAS the Mushkegowuk people do not control the James Bay Education Centre campus of Northern College.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT this Assembly direct the staff of the Mushkegowuk Council to seek funds to independently evaluate the post-secondary programs offered by Northern College through the James Bay Education Centre, including academic standards and options for community or tribal control and the cultural and employment needs of our people, and;

THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the support of the JBEC/Northern College Board for this study be sought.
