SUBJECT: COMMUNITY BASED NATIVE TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAM

WHEREAS the Mushkegowuk Bands are rega1n1ng control over the education of their children, and;

WHEREAS we consider it essential that more Mushkegowuk teachers are recruited and trained, in order to promote our language and culture and act as positive role modelsŁ

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT this Assembly wholeheartedly endorses the idea of developing a community-based Native teacher training program for the Mushkegowuk people.

THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Mushkegowuk Council staff make every effort to see such a program developed, whether through federal government or private sector fundings.
