RESOLUTION NO. 1987-46

SUBJECT: AKAMISKI ISLAND

WHEREAS we never surrendered our traditional lands or our aboriginal rights, and;

WHEREAS the Government of Canada considers Akamiski Island to be part of the Northwest Territories.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT this Assembly authorizes the Directors and staff of the Mushkegowuk Council to meet with senior officials of the government of the Northwest Territories to attempt to resolve jurisdictional issues on our traditional territory known as Akamiski Island.
