ASSEMBLY RESOLUTION

RESOLUTION NO. 1989-83

SUBJECT: HEALTH ISSUES

Chief Edmund Metatawabin Fort Albany Band

Acting Chief Randy Kapashesit MoCreeBec

Adopted by consensus

WHEREAS the members of the Fort Albany First Nation receive health care from "transient" doctors who do not have the opportunity to gain an adequate relationship with their patients and who lack sufficient patient historical data and therefore are hampered in their efforts to make diagnoses and implement treatment.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Mushkegowuk Council immediately request James Bay General Hospital to obtain a full-time doctor to be resident in Fort Albany. The Fort Albany First Nation is to be involved in the negotiation of the terms and conditions for this medical position.
