RESOLUTION NO. 1989-84

SUBJECT: HEALTH ISSUES

WHEREAS Attawapiskat is an isolated community that is presently services by physicians who come only a few times each year;

AND WHEREAS the visiting doctors are unable to become familiar with the people of the community and their medical needs;

AND WHEREAS the people of Attawapiskat would greatly benefit from having a resident doctor in their community;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Mushkegowuk Council request that James Bay General Hospital take steps immediately to obtain a full time resident physician for the Attawapiskat Wing and that the people and Council of Attawapiskat be involved in the design of the resident physician program and in the selection of the resident physician.
