SUBJECT: CREE MIGRATORY BIRD MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
BE IT RESOLVED THAT each member First Nation hold a referendum as to whether there is support for the proposed discussions on migratory bird hunting as they are planned;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THA1 each member First Nation establish a Traditional Pursuits Committee consisting of their Elders to provide traditional knowledge of hunting practices that can be codified and presented as a Cree Migratory Birds Management System;
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT we announce this traditional law as our management system which consists of culturally and ecologically sound principle$;
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT in doing so·we demonstrate our committment to traditional management practices that consider both habitat and bird population protection. We are responsible for our land and water and the living things we find upon them and by our actions we demonstrate this.
