ASSEMBLY RESOLUTION

RESOLUTION NO. 1989-121

SUBJECT: NISHNAWBE-ASKI NATION

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Mushkegowuk Council takes the following position on the re­organization of Nishnawbe-Aski Nation (NAN):

Acting Chief Frank Archibald New Post Band

NAN in its present structure interferes with the leadership of the Mushkegowuk Council by duplicating the manner in which issues are handled for the Mushkegowuk First Nations, and

ONE ABSTENTION FROM ATTA\ŁAPISKAT BAND

We know that we all belong to the same Treaty. However, the Mushkegowuk Council believes that it has the sole right to exercise leadership in representing our members on issues within our geographic jurisdiction.

We request that NAN give us our full entitlement as appropriated for the Mushkegowuk share of its budget, to use for our own political organization.
