SUBJECT: UNIFICATION OF HEALTH BOARDS

WHEREAS the Mushkegowuk Council seeks to improve the provision of health care services and programs to the people of Mushkegowuk First Nations;

AND WHEREAS the Mushkegowuk Chiefs adopted our own self-government process known as "Partners in Change" in June 1989;

AND WHEREAS the Mushkegowuk Council has entered discussions with the Government of Canada and the Province of Ontario regarding the improved delivery of health care services and programs within the "Partners in Change" framework;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Mushkegowuk Council continues to support furthering of "Partners in Change" through the unification of the federal Moose Factory Hospital Board and the provincial James Bay General Hospital Board;

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the federal medical facilities located in Kashechewan and Peawanuck and the provincial medical facilities located in Fort Albany and Attawapiskat fall under the umbrella of "Partners in Change".
