RESOLUTION NO. 1990-155
SUBJECT: MUSHKEGOWUK AREA TREATMENT CENTRE
WHEREAS the need for establishing a Drug and Alcohol Treatment Centre has been identified by the consulting firm of Obonsawin-Irwin in their consultation with the people of the Mushkegowuk jurisdiction (Feasibility Study Needs Assessment, February 1987);
AND WHEREAS funding has been allocated to the Mushkegowuk Council for the planning of these facilities;
AND WHEREAS a Steering Committee consisting of representation from each Mushkegowuk community and the communities of Moosonee and the Local Services Board of Moose Factory has been identified to manage the planning of this project;
AND WHEREAS by motion 002-90 and motion 003-90 the Steering Committee meeting of October 16, 1990 in Attawapiskat recognized the need to constitute the Steering Committee as an Interim Board of Directors for the purpose of applying for funds for the establishment and operation of a Drug and Alcohol Treatment Centre for the Mushkegowuk jurisdiction;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Assembly support the plan of the Interim Board of Directors and that full support is given to to the planning, implementation and on-going operation of these facilities.
