RESOLUTION NO. 1992-17
Omushkegowuk Training
Management Board
WHEREAS Annual Assembly Resolution No. 1990-149 resolved the establishment of a Pathways To Success Training Board for the Mushkegowuk region;
AND WHEREAS the Mushkegowuk Chiefs supported the activation of Omushkegowuk Training Management Board (OTMB) at a Chiefs' Meeting in New Post on August 22, 1991;
AND WHEREAS OTMB is composed of members appointed by the First Nation communities of Peawanuck, Attawapiskat, Kashechewan, Fort Albany, Moose Factory, Mocreebec and New Post, members appointed by the Moosonee Metis Association and the Moosonee Native Friendship Center and a board member representing Mushkegowuk Cree Women;
AND WHEREAS OTMB has been successful in providing access to annual federal funding for the Mushkegowuk communities in the range of $2.5 million annually;
AND WHEREAS this funding is insufficient to meet the employment training and adult education needs of the Mushkegowuk community members;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Assembly hereby endorses and supports OTMB in its role of providing access to, and local control over, federal resources for adult education and employment training;
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that OTMB, in conjunction with Mushkegowuk Council, is hereby endorsed to seek access to, and local control over, provincial funding through provincial initiatives such as Jobs Ontario Training Fund and Ontario Training Adjustment Board and through Ontario aboriginal initiatives such as the Aboriginal Intergovernmental Committee on Training.
