Direct Election of Chairperon

RESOLUTION NO. 1994-10-22

SUBJECT: DIRECT ELECTION OF CHAIRPERSON

WHEREAS the present Mushkegowuk Constitution provides that the Chairprson shall be elected by delegates at the Annual Assembly, and;

WHEREAS the members of the Mushkegowuk communities have expressed the desire to be allowed to participate directly in the election of the Chairperson;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Chiefs take the necessary steps to amend the Mushkegowuk Council Constitution to allow all individuals who are members of the Mushkegowuk First Nations to vote for the Chairperson of Mushkegowuk Council;

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the amendment is to take place for the first Chairperson election to occur after confirmation of the amendment by the Mushkegowuk general assembly.
