RESOLUTION NO. 1996-08-03

SUBJECT: CANADA/ONTARIO RETROFIT AGREEMENT

WHEREAS the federal and provincial governments instituted an agreement to assist First Nations retrofit their homes to connect to new water and sewer infrastructure;

WHEREAS Phase One of this agreement is expiring;

WHEREAS the Fort Albany First Nation is presently installing water and sewer infrastructure in their community and the Fort Albany First Nation is listed in Phase Two;

WHEREAS the Ontario government is not fulfilling their portion of their obligation to Phase Two of the agreement;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Council supports the efforts of the Fort Albany First Nation in its efforts to secure funding by lobbying their provincial government to fund Phase Two of the Canada/Ontario Retrofit Agreement.
