RESOLUTION NO. 1996-08-08

SUBJECT: CO-OPERATIVES

WHEREAS each First Nation must influence and control the costs of goods within their communities by being actively involved as commercial retailers;

WHEREAS First Nations have expressed a need for the development of co-operatives;

WHEREAS there is a need for First Nations to conduct feasibility studies for business plans to determine the viability of these ventures;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Council take a lead role in assisting First Nations in the development of community based co­operative business plans for the purposes of securing funding from federal and provincial government programs.
