RESOLUTION NO. 1996-08-15

SUBJECT: POST SECONDARY INSTITUTION

WHEREAS there is a growing demand for post secondary education in the Mushkegowuk area as indicated by the increase in post secondary students;

WHEREAS post secondary funding in the Mushkegowuk communities are channelled exclusively to non-native institutions;

WHEREAS the said post secondary institutions do not fully embrace the cultural heritage and traditions of the people;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Council initiate action towards the development of a post secondary institution that would serve the post secondary educational needs of its people;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Council work co­operatively with the Nishnawbe Aski Nation on this initiative.
