SUBJECT: WEENEEBAYKO HEALTH AHTUSKAYWIN MANDATE TO ENTER INTO SECTORAL SELF GOVERNMENT NEGOTIATIONS IN HEALTH
WHEREAS in 1989, Mushkegowuk Chiefs announced the Partners in Change initiative aimed at creating a unified self governing health care system in the Mushkegowuk Territory;
WHEREAS since 1993, Mushkegowuk assemblies have annually supported the establishment and vision of the WHA as the regional First Nations health authority in the western James Bay area;
WHEREAS the Mushkegowuk Assembly welcomes the completion of the administrative transfer of WHA and the commencement of regional health planning as important progress toward the objectives of the Partners in Change initiative;
WHEREAS the Mushkegowuk Assembly supports efforts to realize and implement self government in the Mushkegowuk traditional territory;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED the Mushkegowuk Assembly affirms the mandate of the WHA, the Mushkegowuk Council and member First Nations to enter into sectoral

negotiations with the federal and provincial governments to conclude a self government agreement as it pertains to health.
