RESOLUTION NO. 1996-08-21
SUBJECT: AFFILIATION OF MISSINAIBI RIVER CREES AT MATTICE
WHEREAS the people of the Missinaibi River Crees at Mattice have been working toward consolidating their First Nation membership and organization, and toward seeking a land base;
WHEREAS the members of the Mushkegowuk Council recognize the importance of assisting fellow members of the Cree Nation in organizing and strengthening their communities;
WHEREAS more information is required and a number of matters require further development before full membership in Mushkegowuk Council can be considered for the Missinaibi River Crees;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Mushkegowuk Council express its support for the efforts of the Missinaibi River Crees to build their First Nation community;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Missinaibi River Crees at Mattice be granted affiliated observer status with the Mushkegowuk Council, and be considered for full membership at the next Assembly.
