RESOLUTION NO. 1996-08-22

SUBJECT: MUSHKEGOWUK CREDIT UNION

WHEREAS the Mushkegowuk First Nations desire to have greater control and access to funds deposited by their respective First Nations;

WHEREAS the conventional institutions are making money from these deposits;

WHEREAS the Mushkegowuk First Nations have the desire to have a greater return on their investments;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Council seek funding to conduct a feasibility study to determine the viability of a regional Credit Union in the Mushkegowuk Territory;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that funding agencies be encouraged to support this initiative.
