SUBJECT: CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS ON ELECTION OF GRAND CHIEF

WHEREAS by Resolution 1995-10-32 the Mushkegowuk Assembly resolved to move toward full community elections of a Mushkegowuk Grand Chief; and

WHEREAS by Resolution 1996-08 the Mushkegowuk Assembly, after reviewing draft Constitutional amendments regarding direct election of a Mushkegowuk Grand Chief, referred the draft amendments to the communities for discussion and for consideration at the next Assembly; and

WHEREAS the draft Constitutional amendments have been circulated and published, and have thereafter been approved and adopted by the Board of Chiefs;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Chiefs in Assembly ratify the Constitutional amendments on direct community election of the Mushkegowuk Grand Chief and the role of the Grand Chief, as distributed to this Assembly.
