RESOLUTION NO. 1999-09-14

NISHNA WBE-ASKI POLICE SERVICES

WHEREAS a number of concerns and issues have been identified with respect to the administration, management and operation of Nishnawbe-Aski Police Services in Mushkegowuk Territory; and

WHEREAS the First Nations of the Mushkegowuk Council wish to initiate a review ofNishnawbe-Aski Police Services for the purposes of improving the services to community members; and

WHEREAS the Matawa Chiefs have initiated a process to review the current Nislmawbe-Aski Police Services (NAPS) Agreement with the view of looking at the short and long term shortfalls of the agreement;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Council participate with the Matawa Chiefs and the Nishnawbe-Aski Nation in undertaking a process to review the services of Nishnawbe-Aski Police Services in order to improve the overall provision of policing services to the membership of the Mushkegowuk First Nations.
