CONTINUANCE OF CONTAMINATED DND SITES CLEANUP

WHEREAS Mushkegowuk Council and Nishnawbe-Aski Nation have successfully lobbied for the clean up of various abandoned sites of the Department of National Defence in the NAN and Mushkegowuk TeITitory; and

WHEREAS the Ontario Government (Ministry of Natural Resources) has committed funding to clean up Site 050 (Fort Albany) by awarding a contract in the corning months to have the work proceed; and

WHEREAS other sites, (such as 415-Cape Henrietta Maria, 500-Win.isk, 060-Relay/Foxville, 418 & 421, 424 & 427, 503 & 506, 509 & 512, 515 & 518 and 521), have been identified as contaminated sites that require clean up and remediation and require follow-up by Mushkegowuk Council and NAN leadership;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that th.is Assembly directs the Mushkegowuk Council and Nishnawbe-Aski Nation to continue the political pressure necessary to ensure that the remammg contaminated DND sites in our territories be cleaned up and remediated.
