RESOLUTION NO. 2002-09-06

SUPPORT RESOLUTION FOR EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS & RESPONSE ECONOMIC SECTOR AND CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE DEVELOPMENT PROJECT

WHEREAS the citizens of the Mushkegowuk First Nations deserve the lughest possible standard for public safety, and;

WHEREAS member First Nations have developed and continue to foster the unwritten protocol of helping one another during times of emergency and crisis, and;

WHEREAS through regional 1ruhat1ves involving emergency training and responses to emergency situations, member First Nations continue to work in partnership, and;

WHEREAS member First Nations would benefit from expanded employment and training, including potential new employment and training specifically geared to the emergency preparedness and response Economic Centre, and;

WHEREAS Moose Cree First Nation has developed an Emergency Preparedness and Response (EPR) Econonuc Sector and Centre of Excellence Development Project, and;

WHEREAS the proposed project includes the joint development and establishment of a regional strategic plan to develop the emergency preparedness and response economic centre, and further contribute to

increased local and regional safety, and;

WHEREAS the proposed project includes establishing a facility to include an emergency preparedness and response training facility, an emergency operations centre, space for local service providers and emergency telecommunications support;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Chiefs and delegates in Assembly support Moose Cree First Nation and its Emergency Preparedness and Response Economic Sector and Centre of Excellence Development Project.
