WAWATAY COMMUNICATIONS SOCIETY
WHEREAS Wawatay Communications Society has the mandate to promote the retention, preservation and maintenance of the Abo1iginal Languages within Nishnawbe Aski Nation;
WHEREAS Wawatay Radio currently broadcasts in both Oji-Cree and Cree dialects, and;
WHEREAS the Youth, Elders, Parents, Members and Leaders within Mushkegowuk First Nations have continued to express their concerns regarding the decline in the retention and daily use of the Cree Language in our communities, and;
WHEREAS if Wawatay Radio established a broadcast channel specific to Cree programming, this would greatly enhance and promote the use and interest of the Cree Language.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Chiefs and delegates in Assembly direct Wawatay Communications Society to undertake a feasibility study toward the establishment of a separate broadcast signal specific for Cree Programming to be located in Moose Factory.

AND FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that the results of the feasibility study be presented to the Mushkegowuk Board of Chiefs by February 28, 2003.
