ABITIBI/MATTAGAMI WATERSHED PLANNING

WHEREAS public meetings of hydro, forestry and other companies in the last few weeks have occurred which the companies apparently viewed as some kind of consultation on their plans for future resource development in tbe Abitibi/Mattagami watershed in Mushkegowuk Territory;

WHEREAS the meetings were conducted without any apparent intention to deal in good faith with the serious underlying issues of First Nation resource rights in Mushkegowuk Territories;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLYEO that the Mushkegowuk Assembly express its non­recognition of the recent so-called consultation meetings, and its objection to the planning of significant resource developments m Mushkegowuk Territory without recognition of the important resource rights of the Mushkegowuk First Nation.
