JOINT MUSHKEGOWUK COUNCIL AND NISHNAWBE ASKI NATION GOVERNANCE INITIATIVE
WHEREAS Mushkegowuk Council has prepared its draft Omushkego Governing Constitution with the accompanying specific Governing Acts under its 1st National Legislation Assembly in October 2001;
WHEREAS Nishnawbe Aski Nation's proposed Traditional Governance was officially adopted in principle by the Chiefs in Assembly in February 2003;
WHEREAS it is the interest of Nishnawbe Aski Nation to work in conjunction with Mushkegowuk Council in its proposed draft Mushkegowuk Governing Constitutional Process.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that this Assembly mandates the Board of Chiefs to enter into discussions with the Nishnawbe Aski Nation Executive on a joint major pilot project on a Traditional Governance initiative to develop a framework governance regime using the Omushkego Governing Constitution;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that in the event that a joint initiative is agreed upon, that it be conditional

upon Mushkegowuk Council maintaining control over the development of the draft traditional governance framework.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that this does not prejudice the Governance aspirations of individual First Nations in the Mushkegowuk Territory.
