Resolution No. 2003-09-23

DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF SEARCH AND RESCUE ORGANIZATIONAL AND OPERATIONAL PLANS

WHEREAS it is critical that we continue to foster our teachings and traditions by supporting each other during times of distress, when lives are in danger and when search and rescue operations are required;

WHEREAS since January 2000 there have been in excess of thirty (30) search and rescue incidents and it is anticipated that there will be more incidences to respond to:

WHEREAS search and rescue responses will continue to be a reality and capitalizing on local and regional coordinated responses, to maximize our resources in search and rescue volunteers and expertise is crucial.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that this Assembly directs the Mushkegowuk Council to initiate a process that results in the development and implementation of a local and regional search and rescue organizational and operational plan for the Mushkegowuk First Nations;

FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that the draft Local and Regional Plans be presented for review and approval by
