Employment and Training Program Funding
WHEREAS the Employment and Training Program of Mushkegowuk Council has experienced a decrease of four percent (4%) in each of the five (5) years in its current contract with the Department of Human Resources Skills Development Canada (HRDC) which concluded March 31, 2004;
WHEREAS on April 1, 2004, the Mushkegowuk Employment and Training Program received an overall decrease of $400,000 in its funding allocation from the HRDC;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Council send a strong message to the appropriate Minister responsible for the HRDC that further decreases in funding allocations under Employment and Training will not be tolerated;
FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that the Grand Chief and Deputy Grand Chief be directed to be actively involved in the funding agreement negotiations to avoid further erosion of Employment and Training funds and to recover previous shortfalls.
