Resolution No. 2007-09-08

Human Resource and Social Development Canada

WHEREAS in 1997 a five year regional bilateral agreement was signed by Nishnawbe Aski Nation which included Mushkegowuk Council; and,

WHEREAS in 2004 a new five year agreement was signed by Matawa, Wabun and Mushkegowuk, under the new Aboriginal Human Resources Development Agreements (AHRDA) referred to as Mamo Nuskomitowin, one of seventy nine (79) agreements in Canada, fifteen of which are located in Ontario; and,

WHEREAS the final year of the current agreement for 2008-09 expires March 31, 2009; and,

WHEREAS negotiations are underway toward establishing a new agreement with two options, remain with the status quo or implement a Geographic Formula as in the former days of Abatisowin Training Management Board;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Chief and Delegates in Assembly mandate the Grand Chief and the Executive to become actively involved in current Aboriginal Human Resource Development Agreements negotiations to ensure that current level of services and funding provided to the communities through Mushkegowuk Employment and Training continue without interference.
