Endorsement of the Mushkegowuk Resource Development Protocol

WHEREAS the First Nations of Mushkegowuk Council have always maintained their inherent right to govern themselves and their traditional lands and resources;

WHEREAS Mushkegowuk Council Resolution 2003-09-10 called for the aevelopment of a Mushkegowuk Resource Development Protocol;

WHEREAS three years of community consultations led to the development of an Agreement-In-Principle which clearly outlines a Protocol ensuring an opportunity to review all new development projects by the affected First Nations;

WHEREAS Mushkegowuk Council Resolution No. 2006-09-27 supported the Agreement-In-Principle calling for ratification by the First Nations and for the coming into effect of the Protocol at the 2007 Mushkegowuk Council Assembly;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that this Assembly fully endorses the Mushkegowuk Resource Development Protocol and directs the Grand Chief and Executive to begin implementation as soon as possible.
