Increased Funding for Employment and Training

WHEREAS the proper skills and training of a Mushkegowuk workforce is an essential aspect of Nation Building; and

WHEREAS the Mushkegowuk Council Employment and Training Services (METS) receives funding from Human Resources Canada; and

WHEREAS the amount of funding received has never been enough; and

WHEREAS the proliferation of resource development activities in the Mushkegowuk homelands will result in projects requiring a skilled labour force; and

WHEREAS there is an acute shortage of certified trades people;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that this assembly calls for an increased funding, for the METS program in order to meet the demand for a skilled labour force.
