Mushkegowuk Council Gaming and Casino Developments

WHEREAS the Governments of the First Nations and the Mushkegowuk Council recognize the need to create economic opportunities to generate revenue and employment for their members and communities; and

WHEREAS there is a potential market in the Timmins areas for a casino that could be owned by the Governments of the First Nations, and Mushkegowuk Council could be designated to control and manage the gaming and casino developments;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Mushkegowuk Council be mandated to research and develop the plans and strategies for the implementation of First Nations gaming and casino developments; and

FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that the Rama Gaming Agreement be examined regarding its impact on future gaming and casino developments; and

FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that if a casino is developed in the Timmins market area that the shares in the casino corporate entity would be owned by the First Nations of Mushkegowuk Council.
