Appointment of Regional Elder and Alternate Regional Elder

WHEREAS our Creator continues to bless us with our Elders and they continue to bring strength, wisdom and kindness to our hearts; and

WHEREAS our Mamohitowin of the Omushkegowuk have been most honoured and blessed to have the late George Wesley lead us for many years and we know that he will continue to watch over us as the Omushkegowuk family as we move forward in the years to come; and

WHEREAS in keeping with our teachings and practices, the Council of Chiefs have, with honour and respect, appointed Ms. Jackie Fletcher as our Regional Elder and we all look forward to benefitting from her guidance, wisdom, kindness and humility; and

WHEREAS the Council of Chiefs have also appointed Greg Koostachin as the alternate Regional Elder and we look also forward to his guidance, wisdom, kindness and humility as well; and

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT

the Mamohitowin of the Omushkegowuk hereby with honour and respect appoint Jackie Fletcher as the Mushkegowuk Council Regional Elder; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Mamohitowin of the Omushkegowuk hereby with honour and respect appoint Greg Koostachin as the Mushkegowuk Council Alternate Regional Elder.

FINALLY BE IT RESOLVED THAT the term of the appointments will be up to the next election of the Mushkegowuk Council executive which is scheduled for August 2011.
