Support for Kashechewan Hospital

WHEREAS health services are a critical continuing need and service in Mushkegowuk communities; and·

WHEREAS Kashechewan is the only coastal Mushkegowuk community without a hospital facility; and

WHEREAS the Weeneebayko Area Health Authority has various plans for capital developments and health facilities in the Mushkegowuk region, including for a hospital in Kashechewan; and

WHEREAS the health needs in Kashechewan are urgent;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that this Mamowihitowin of the Omushkego supports the acceleration of plans to build a hospital facility in Kashechewan, in view of the urgent needs in Kashechewan as the only coastal Mushkegowuk community without such a facility.
