Young People's Economic Development Forum -Moving Forward

WHEREAS the purpose of this forum was:

To provide a forum for Omushkego young people to engage in thoughtful discussion on our people's past understanding of the environment and to express their views on the environment and resource development for today and the future;

To provide Omushkego young people with information on business and resource development in the Mushkegowuk territory;

To hear about the experience in Northern Quebec and the Cree Regional Authority.

To learn about Treaty #9 -"The Real Agreement as Orally Agreed To"; and

WHEREAS reports from the forum suggests that the forum brought forward many important ideas for the people of Mushkegowuk Council and communities to learn from, generated renewed hope, created a sense of vision and fostered leadership;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Chiefs and Delegates of the Mushkegowuk Mamowihitowin support the exploring of options to follow-up on the Young People's Economic Development forum, including the further support of the Omushkego young professionals and further seeking their input and help on the future of economic development in Mushkegowuk Territory.
