Resolution No. 2015-01-12

Development of a Mushkegowuk Investment Fund

Whereas the homelands of the Mushkegowuk First Nations encompass a significant part of Ontario and are rich in resources; and

Whereas there is an increasing involvement by the Mushkegowuk First Nations in the development of resources, infrastructure and related opportunities; and

Whereas Mushkegowuk Council has been leading the development of regional strategies and structures to pursue regional economic opportunities; and

Whereas there may be an opportunity to discuss the sharing of revenues with the Province of Ontario through the Mushkegowuk· Ontario Treaty Relationship Roundtable;

Therefore be it resolved that this Mamowihitowin of the Mushkegowuk directs the Office of the Grand Chief to explore the development of a Mushkegowuk Investment Fund to be a potential vehicle for investing an d holding regional revenues in trust for all the Mushkegowuk in order to build opportunities for future generations and

to build regional equity for future investments; and

Be it further resolved that the Grand Chief should report to the Mushkegowuk Council of Chiefs on opportunities related to the creation of a Mushkegowuk Investment Fund including information on potential purposes, appropriate management structures and potential sources of revenue.
