Support for Mushkegowuk Athletes to Try Out for Team Ontario

WHEREAS, Mushkegowuk Council recognizes and fully supports our Mushkegowuk athletes; and

WHEREAS, Mushkegowuk Council is aware that the North American Indigenous Games will be hosted in Toronto, Ontario July 16-23, 2017; and

WHEREAS, the Mushkegowuk Council acknowledges the high cost of travel and the challenges it creates for our athletes to compete and partake in try­outs further south; and

WHEREAS, this Mamowihitowin of the Omushkegowuk understands the importance of providing the opportunity for our Mushkegowuk Athletes to try-out for Team Ontario; and

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, this Mamowihitowin of the Omushkegowuk directs the Youth Department to continue to collaborate with the Aboriginal Sports and Wellness Council of Ontario to bring a multi-sport tryout to Timmins, Ontario; and

THEREFORE,BEITFURTHER RESOLVED, this Mamowihitowin of the Omushkegowuk encourages all funding partners such as Mushkegowuk First Nations, First Nation owned Corporations, and First Nation business

partners to provide support for our Mushkegowuk Athletes as they try-out for Team Ontario.
