First Nation Inuit Youth Employment Strategy
WHEREAS the Mamowihitowin of the Omushkegowuk recognize the Initiative partnership between Omushkego Education and CreeGeo continues to provide important and valuable educational and personal development for the educators and students; and
WHEREAS the "First Nations and Inuit Science and Technology Program" of Indian and Northern Affairs Canada has in the past provided funds to run Science & Technology Initiatives in the seven Mushkegowuk Council First Nation communities and will continue to do so annually; and
WHEREAS the "First Nations and Inuit Science and Technology Program" of Indian and Northern Affairs Canada provides science & technology initiatives for educators and youth so that they may learn about science language and science skills, and also the chance to enhance their life skills, and spark the imagination of the youth and to keep their options open when choosing a career;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Omushkego Education and CreeGeo, under the direction of Mushkegowuk Council, continue to pursue financial support to fund this program, an important initiative that gives First Nation youth an opportunity to envision future options and a possible opening into productive science and technology careers.
