Annual CreeFest Event
WHEREAS, our rich culture and tradition directs us to honour and celebrate the annual gatherings of Grandmothers and Grandfathers through CreeFest; and
WHEREAS, as our ancestors were guided, CreeFest continues to be strengthened and guided by the following principles;
Preserve and practice our culture and spiritual beliefs
Uphold and promote our customary practices
Provide cultural and spiritual forums for the Youth
Celebrate life and unity
WHEREAS, all Mushkegowuk First Nations, including the community of Moosonee have respectfully and successfully hosted CreeFest, making this a complete circle of honour and celebration for CreeFest; and
WHEREAS, this Mamowihitowin of the Omushkegowuk acknowledges and commends the members of the planning teams, financial contributors, volunteers, all participants and the
Great Spirit for providing this celebration of our culture and life; and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that this Mamowihitowin of the Omushkegowuk accepts the generous offer from Fort Albany to be the host Nation for 2018 CreeFest.
THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Mamowihitowin of the Omushkegowuk directs Mushkegowuk Council, in collaboration with the host community, plan and deliver CreeFest 2018.
