Annual Mushkegowuk Challenge Cup

WHEREAS, the Mamowihitowin of the Omushkegowuk support and recognize that sport and recreation foster healthier lifestyles, unity, and personal development; and

WHEREAS, the Annual Mushkegowuk Challenge Cup is a regional youth event that continues to gather strength and is a strong foundation for the advancement of sport development in the Mushkegowuk Nation; and

WHEREAS, the participants have responded positively to the past Mushkegowuk Cup events and have expressed their anticipation to the 2018 event; and

WHEREAS the question of where to hold future Mushkegowuk Challenge Cup events was asked to participants at the 10th Annual Cup in 2017 and the majority result was Timmins;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that this Mamowihitowin of the Omushkegowuk direct the Mushkegowuk Council to coordinate and deliver the 11th Annual Mushkegowuk Challenge Cup to be held in Timmins.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that due to the unfortunate lack of contribution and cooperation from the City of Timmins for the 2017 Mushkegowuk Cup, the 2018 Mushkegowuk Cup not to be held in Timmins unless the City of Timmins shows considerably more hospitality.
