Independent Complaint Process at Weeneebayko Area HeaŁth Ahtuskaywin (WAHA)

WHEREAS the Weeneebayko Health Authority (Moose Factory General Hospital) is the regional health services provider in the Mushkegowuk area; and

WHEREAS Health Services has been adversely affected with the integration process; and

WHEREAS Mushkegowuk communities and individuals have been negatively impacted in the reduction of services and quality of service; and

WHEREAS there is a shared belief amongst the communities that leadership and direction of WAHA has failed in its leadership and obligation to service the Mushkegowuk communities; and

WHEREAS the question of the ongoing fiduciary responsibility of Canada remains unanswered;

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Chiefs and Delegates demand that an Independent Complaint Process be established at WAHA to address the individual and service complaints; and

THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Chiefs and Delegates demand that an independent Ethics and Quality Assurance Committee be established at WAHA to address, amongst other things, issues related to collection and used statistics and data regarding Mushkegowuk individuals; and

THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Chiefs and Delegates direct the Grand Chief's office to plan a Regional Health Forum to discuss approaches to resolve the many concerns voiced at the Assembly related to health services at WAHA.
