2023 National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Together we are Strong and Resilient this September 30th, 2023

For many years Omushkego has continued to survive the wake and legacy of Residential Schools

Together we Continue to Learn and Heal

From the moment we as children were stolen from home our future would become less bright. Families were split apart for months, years, decades with many never reuniting.

We will Forever Remember those Little Hands, Feet, Hearts and Souls

Let us behold the precious gems comprising a family, the light of Mom and Dad’s eyes, and memories of those we lost. Today, tomorrow, and days ahead let’s honour those children and their families.

Our Communities Continue to be Resilient

We encourage you all to show your support by wearing orange and participating in your local community events that celerbate and acknowledge the day.

We thank the support in our communities that provided help to those surviving direct and intergenerational trauma. May your valued work continue in renewed strength. We see you and we hear you. Keep up the great work.

Every Child Matters

Keep your family and friends close today and celebrate the resilience that is in all of us.

In Truth and Reconciliation,

Walter Leo Friday
