RESOLUTION NO. 1992-14

Subject: Increasing Delegates -Women and Youth

FURTHER to Annual Assembly Resolution No. 1991-16 which resolved the establishment of a Mushkegowuk Women's Association and greater involvement of women as Mushkegowuk First Nations strive for self-government;

AND FURTHER to Annual Assembly Resolution No. 1989-113 which resolved that the Mushkegowuk Council would hire staff to deal with sexual equality issues;

AND FURTHER to Annual Assembly Resolution No. 1990-138 which resolved that a Youth Council and an Eider's Council would be established for the Mushkegowuk region;

AND WHEREAS the Mushkegowuk commu­nities are in a process of restoring self­government in the Mushkegowuk region;

AND WHEREAS the active involvement of women, youth and elders can greatly contribute to the discussions and decisions which future assemblies will be making on behalf of the Mushkegowuk communities;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the delegates to future Mushkegowuk Assemblies will include, for each member community, at least one youth delegate, at least one woman delegate and at least one elder;

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT Mushkegowuk Council will consider increasing the number of Annual Assembly delegates from four to six;

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT Mushkegowuk Council will amend the constitution as required so that this resolution may be carried out.
