RESOLUTION NO. 1995-10-23
SUBJECT: SAGASHTAWAO TAX EXEMPTION
WHEREAS the Sagashtawao Healing Lodge was established as refuge for Mushkegowuk individuals requiring a retreat for personal healing;
WHEREAS the Sagashtawao services are vital to the Mushkegowuk communities;
WHEREAS the Sagashtawao Healing Lodge has provided substantial benefits to the Moosonee community by way of financing extension relationship with the Moosonee Area Development Board;
WHEREAS the municipal tax requirement appears not to apply to Sagashtawao;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Assembly supports the assertion of municipal tax exemption by Sagashtawao;
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Moosonee Development Area Board be requested to waive any further request for municipal taxes from Sagashtawao.
