RESOLUTION NO. 1997-08-06
SUBJECT: SUPPORT FOR KASHECHEWAN AND FORT ALBANY FIRST NATIONS LAND BASE ALLOCATIONS
WHEREAS the Kashechewan First Nation and the Fort Albany First Nation continue to have an outstanding issue of inequitable allocation of reserve land base between them, remammg from before the establishment of two separate communities;
WHEREAS a process for the allocation of a land base is required, based on mutual consent of the First Nations and the Federal Government;
WHEREAS the First Nations need the full co-operation of the Federal Government and/or its designate in resolving this issue:
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Chiefs in Assembly support the desire of the Kashechewan First Nation and the Fort Albany First Nation to resolve the issue of the allocation of reserve land base between them, and urge the Federal Government to assist in reaching a fair and equitable outcome to the satisfaction of all parties.
