New Post Education Services Need for Funding for Administration of Programs

RESOLUTION NO. 1997-08-09

FOR FUNDING

WHEREAS the New Post Education Services of the New Post First Nation have been administering the education programs following the transfer from INAC to New Post in 1986; and

WHEREAS the New Post Education Services are administering the Post-Secondary program, counselling services, tuition agreements, library/resource centre, special initiatives projects, community based college programs, and transportation; and

WHEREAS the New Post First Nation is re-negotiating tuition agreements with the local school boards for support services; and

WHEREAS the New Post First Nation requires full support for all education services provided to the post­secondary, secondary, and elementary students sponsored by the community; and

WHEREAS the New Post Education Services receives minimal funding for administration from INAC; and

WHEREAS the New Post First Nation has been unsuccessful in its attempt to secure full funding with which to administer the education programs to benefit the needs of the children/students of the community;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Council support the New Post First Nation's request to acquire full funding for administration of the education programs in order that they may provide adequate and high quality education services for our students.
