RESOLUTION NO. 1998-08-06
SUBJECT: B A A W T I N G ABORIGINAL VETERANS' ASSOCIATION
WHEREAS the Baawting Aboriginal Veterans' Association wishes to see greater recognition of our Aboriginal veterans; and
WHEREAS the Baawting Aboriginal Veterans' Association wishes to have the support in principle of the Mushkegowuk Council; and
WHEREAS the Baawting Aboriginal Veterans' Association seeks financial assistance to host a pow-wow to recognize Aboriginal veterans; and
WHEREAS the Baawting Aboriginal Veterans' Association wishes to have a private member's bill introduced in Parliament to establish November 8th as Aboriginal Veterans' Day;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Chiefs in Assembly officially support and endorse the efforts of the Baawting Aboriginal Veterans' Association to have the contribution of Aboriginal veterans fully recognized through creation of a pow-wow in their honour and through establishment of an Aboriginal Veterans' Day mutually acceptable to Aboriginal Veterans across Canada.
