RESOLUTION NO. 1998-08-10

SUBJECT: WEENUSK FIRST NATION MEMBERSHIP IN MUSHKEGOWUK COUNCIL

WHEREAS the members of the Weenusk First Nation have deep and lasting ties of language, culture, family, land, friendship and co-operation with other Cree peoples of Mushkegowuk territory;

AND WHEREAS the Weenusk First Nation participated for many years as a member of Mushkegowuk Council, but discontinued that active membership because of various concerns;

AND WHEREAS the Weenusk First Nation and the other members of Mushkegowuk Council wish to bridge their differences, and other members of Mushkegowuk Council have heard and take seriously the concerns of the Weenusk First Nation;

AND WHEREAS the Weenusk First Nation and the other members of Mushkegowuk Council wish to re­establish a relationship of mutually beneficial understanding and co­operation;

AND WHEREAS the past membership of Weenusk First Nation was never formally and specifically rescinded;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the members of Mushkegowuk Council represented at the 13th Annual Assembly unanimously approve the acceptance and confirmation of the Weenusk First Nation as a full and active member of Mushkegowuk Council;

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED

that this acceptance and confirmation be effective as of the date of a Weenusk First Nation BCR confirming its membership in Mushkegowuk Council;

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED

that the other members of Mushkegowuk Council hereby express and wish to convey to the Weenusk First Nation their desire for and their anticipation of a mutually beneficial renewed relationship of co-operation and understanding with the people of the Weenusk First Nation.
