Fort Albany FN - Review of Current Employment and Training Funding Formula

, RESOLUTION NO. 1998-08-13

SUBJECT: FORT ALBANY FIRST NATION -REVIEW OF CURRENT EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING FUNDING FORMULA

WHEREAS the restructuring of the Mushkegowuk Employment and Training Program has lead to a new formula for the allocation of employment and training dollars received from HRDC; and

WHEREAS the current funding formula as approved by the Board of Chiefs does not allow for equity with respect to the amount of dollars allocated to the First Nations of Fort Albany and Kashechewan; and

WHEREAS the funding formula was approved in the absence of an informed response from Fort Albany owing to political instability; and

WHEREAS the populations of each of Fort Albany and Kashechewan wish to retain the current formula with an amendment to increase their respective proportional share of employment and training dollars from 14% to 28%;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Chiefs in Assembly move to review the current formula for the allocation of employment and training dollars in efforts to achieve greater population based equity among the member First Nations.
