RESOLUTION NO. 1998-08-22
SUBJECT: ESTABLISHMENT OF GROUP HOMES IN ATTAWAPISKAT, FORT ALBANY AND KASHECHEWAN
WHEREAS Payukotayno: James & Hudson Bay Family Services provides children's residential services to the communities of Attawapiskat, Fort Albany and Kashechewan;
WHEREAS the options for placement of children in these communities are very limited and inadequate;
WHEREAS a need exists to have these services provided to the children and youth within their respective home communities;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mushkegowuk Chiefs in Assembly recognizes and fully supports the establishment of group homes for the children and youth in the communities of Attawapiskat, Fort Albany and Kashechewan;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that direction be given to Payukotayno: James & Hudson Bay Family Services to seek the resources necessary to address the need of establishing group homes in the communities of Attawapiskat, Fort Albany and Kashechewan.
